Riccardo Attanasio obtained a degree in Sculpture at the University of Fine Arts in Naples and an MA in Social Sculpture at Oxford Brookes University. Riccardo values the context he works in as the main inspiration for his work, finding a common ground with each culture he connects with. He\u00a0creates cathartic actions and performances in the\u00a0fore-front\u00a0of current political, environmental and spiritual concerns by digging for the essence of humanity beyond race and custom. The artist often collects relics from his\u00a0performances which\u00a0later become objects of memory and contemplation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melting Borders
<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Scratching Border is the second performance which is part of “The No Border Series” which consists of three performances, including: “Melting Borders #1, Scratching Borders #2 and Fading Borders #3.
“Scratching Borders” aims to scratch away patriotism and Nationalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Riccardo balances his life as an artist between his studio work, which happens alone in the studio giving him the space needed for contemplation and reflection and his performance practice which usually happens out urban spaces, confronting him directly with the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artists states to need both these art forms in order to feel like a full individual: “sometimes as human being I feel I need to be in the crowd and feel the love, some other times I swim in my fears, joys and creation, trying to understand the mystery\u00a0of life from my own individual space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
