Exhibition | Endless Space, Ernesto Gutiérrez

Vargas Gallery, in collaboration with the Art Department of Vargas University, is proud to present Endless Space a solo exhibition of Ernesto Gutiérrez.

Curated by Henry Ballate M.F.A. this exhibition reveals the intimate space of the artist.

We are perpetually surrounded by space, we inhabit it, yet we rarely ever think about it. We might be briefly reminded when we see a majestic landscape, or when we come home again after a long day.

Ernesto Gutiérrez paintings are affected by its surroundings and suggest an intuitive understanding of space: the essence of the landscape is sought after, and the superfluous details are discarded. Within the picture plane anything is possible. It becomes like a window; and in our minds, we can be any size at all and imagine ourselves within the space the artist has created.

“My paintings share the motivation to create my own illogical space highlighting the ambiguities and the absurd,” Ernesto explains.

Amazingly, every empty space in the composition is full of purpose, with a suggestion of landscape. The result is a peaceful Endless Space which embraces the spiritual.

Welcome Ernesto.
