Henry Ballate M.F.A. is University Professor of Art History. Specializes in Modern art and contemporary art, with particular interests in classical iconography, from the Renaissance to popular culture images. Henry has over 20 years of combined experience as a Visual artist and graphic designer. Henry’s artwork is instantly recognizable through his use of well-known visual arts iconography. His pieces use historical works of art that deal with provocative and suggestive themes as a foundation augmenting them with today’s popular images. He creates these works by mixing traditional methods of painting with innovative techniques creating new works that are rooted in art history while retaining contemporary relevance. Throughout his career, Henry’s work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, America, and Asia.
